A Q&A WITH KRISTINA HANNON
From the coastal city of Wilmington, N.C., Kristina Hannon joined the Infinity team at the beginning of this year. She made the move to Nashville after making multiple trips to visit her sister.
"Every time I came to this vibrant city, I fell more and more in love," Kristina said. "So, in February of 2017 I accepted this job, decided to make the move, and have never looked back!"
How did you get into event planning?
I spent the balance of my childhood and quite frankly most of my adulthood on a stage. My heart and soul was dedicated to the entertainment world. I performed on cruise ships, in theme parks and shows all over the globe.
When my professional dancing career came to an end, the next natural step for me was event planning.
My passion has always been bringing my creative visions to life; whether that be through dance, performing arts, acrobatics or in this case event planning. I realized I can still live out my true passions through seeing my craft played out and brought to life in romantic, beautiful and creative ways within events.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
For me, starting with a color scheme is crucial. Finding contrasting colors, mixed metals along with shapes and textures helps me build the foundation for a design. Incorporating cultural aspects and traditional elements to customize each event is something I love to do as well.
How do you stay on top of everything? Any organizational tips or tricks?
I love a list and a deadline. Being able to cross or check a task off gives me the greatest joy. Also, giving myself a date to complete something is my saving grace and holds me accountable.
What are some of the challenges you face when planning an event?
My biggest challenge is navigating family members, friends, or co-workers trying to overtake the overall vision that my clients have. It can be difficult at times when you have multiple people trying to voice their ideas. I strive to incorporate everyone's thoughts, but my main goal is to always prioritize my client's desires.
What unique details have been your favorite from one of your events?
I worked with a celebrity bride about a year ago who was from New York. She needed help planning a welcome party for her guests and wanted to incorporate her love for the ocean in a town where she attended college. Not knowing what direction to go or how to make this dream come alive, she turned to me for help.
So what did I plan? A 40 foot yacht to transport her guests over to their own private island for the day. It was complete with a catered bar, lunch, cabanas, and all the best beach games.
Do you have a favorite memory?
I was fortunate to not only plan, but design both of my sisters' weddings. There has been nothing more fulfilling then watching them both walk down the aisles to their forever loves. Hands down my favorite memories to date.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Connecting with the families, couples, and clients. Getting to know them on a personal level and watching their eyes light up when they see their vision come to life is the best part of my job.
