A Q&A WITH BRITTANY OLSEN
Originally from Southern California, Brittany has been living in Nashville since she was five years old. With eight years of experience in the hospitality industry, she has helped design and coordinate events for clients like the Nashville Predators, Warner Music Group, Vanderbilt University, Brantley Gilbert, and more.
When Brittany's not working you can catch her at hot yoga nearly 3 times a week or at Coco's Italian Market eating her weight in spaghetti. Who says you can't have both?
What got you into event planning?
My parents are huge entertainers, so I have grown up loving to host and create a space where people can get together.
I planned a few events in high school and college, as well as interned with a company in Nashville, and the rest is history!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Fashion trends and nature. I love mixing natural elements with the current trends! I try to come up with new ways to incorporate current trends into my events.
What unique details have been your favorite from one of your events?
I love some good industrial elements. I'm all about those straight lines and cold color schemes with a touch of natural elements to warm it up.
I also love when I can bring in themes or elements to an event that is unique to the couple. I had a military couple this July that owned a brewery. We used their company's beers as escort cards that doubled as a favor! So fun and unique to the two of them.
What is one of the challenges you face when planning an event?
Trying to predict the weather.
You should always have a rain and weather plan!
What is one of your favorite memories from one of your events?
One time I shut down Music Row for a Blake Shelton concert. That was an adventure. We overcame a lot of obstacles for that one, but it was definitely a pretty amazing feeling looking down at the 30,000 people that showed up! Such a great feeling seeing your hard work come to fruition.
If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning a wedding, what would it be?
Don't forget to have fun! At the end of the day you will be marrying your best friend. Don't let the little details or nuances take over you. And hire an event planner to take care of the details for you!
What’s your favorite part about your job?
It's never the same! I love that you're always doing something different and working with new people. Even if you have the same color palette or theme, the event could look completely different. I love that I'm creatively challenged. And, it helps that I work with amazing people too!
